BREWERY OPERATIONS MANAGER

40 Hours per week

Salary: £33-£37k (Dependent upon experience. Annual pay reviews)

Preferred start date: Jan-Feb 2024

 

Braybrooke Beer Co is a growing company with exciting plans in place for significant site expansion and output growth and the opening of a stunning on-site Taproom. We are currently looking to fill the new position of Brewery Operations Manager who will be a key member of the Senior Management team throughout this process and beyond.

On a daily basis this person will be responsible for ensuring high standards of safety and efficiency across all areas of the brewery. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Brewer and brewery team to ensure all production targets are met in a consistent, calm, safe and efficient manner.

The role requires someone who has excellent practical skills, great technical production knowledge, strong attention to detail and a very positive attitude. We would expect you to lean into every challenge, every day, with clear, precise and logical communication.

The Operations Manager needs to be the conduit between all areas/departments of the business and therefore the role provides a very exciting opportunity for the right individual to further their career and garner a very deep insight into the company. This role may benefit from the individual undertaking further training in future and the ideal candidate would be someone willing to grasp such opportunities positively.

 

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for working alongside existing staff members and future hires to ensure exemplary Health and Safety practice in all areas of the brewery:

  • Risk Assessments

  • Fire Safety

  • COSHH

  • Site Security

  • Housekeeping

 

Working closely and/or directly managing the following to ensure the smooth and safe production and transportation of beer:

  • Head Brewer

  • Production Staff

  • Warehouse & Dispatch

 

Working alongside the Head Brewer in order to:

  • Schedule equipment maintenance/services

  • Efficiently react to equipment breakdowns and other enforced production halts

  • Structure brew and pack schedules month on month

  • Comprehensively manage inventory of raw materials and finished beer

  • Schedule ingredient deliveries

  • Plan collaboration days at Braybrooke

  • Work towards any accreditation requirements

 

Overseeing Logistics, examples of which are:

  • Movement of stock within the production site

  • Movement of stock to warehouse

  • Goods in to the production site

  • Waste disposal

  • Beer destruction/product recalls

  • Dispatch to wholesale & trade

  • Dispatch to webshop/DTC

 

Ideal Skills

  • Clear and confident communicator who is comfortable scheduling and leading regular management meetings

  • Good BREWW software knowledge and a keenness to incorporate it further into their role

  • Good IT skills and spreadsheet competency

  • High level of housekeeping and cleanliness

  • Excellent technical production knowledge and experience working within a production team

  • A strong practical approach to problem solving

  • Empathetic by nature and enjoys looking at challenges from different viewpoints

  • Remains calm under pressure

  • Strong work ethic and a definite team player

  • Valid forklift license would be an advantage, but not essential
